UPDATE TO CERVICAL SCREENING (SMEAR TEST)
From 1st July those who test negative for HPV, meaning they are at very low risk of cervical cancer over the next 10 years, will safely be invited at 5-year intervals rather than 3-year intervals, in line with major clinical evidence as per the UK National Screening Committee.
Those whose sample indicates the presence of HPV or who have a recent history of HPV, will continue to be invited to more frequent screenings to check HPV has cleared and if not, if any cell changes have developed.
Your next screening date will be given to you on the result letter from your test.
Please call to book in your smear test when you receive your invite. If you have missed
All women and people with a cervix between the ages of 25 and 64 should go for regular cervical screening.
See the NHS website for more information – When you’ll be invited
